Hello, thank you for visiting my website. I am currently working on building up availablity of stock online. In the meantime, my swimming mugs and many of my other ranges are available at the following galleries

  • Interlude Ceramics at Brougham Hall, near Penrith, Cumbria.
  • Ullswater Swim Place, Another Place Hotel by the shores of Ullswater (swimming mugs only)
  • Makers Mill, Keswick, Cumbria.
  • Calgary Gallery, near Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. (Please note that Calgary Gallery is closed for winter, reopening in April 2026.)

Caring for your items

Homeware and stoneware pieces: All of the day to day homeware items including mugs, bowls and other kitchen items are made of stoneware fired to 1,260C in an electric kiln. Accordingly, these items can be put in a dishwasher, microwave or oven. However, it is kinder to the pot - and the glaze will keep looking its best for longer - if they can be washed by hand.

Raku pieces: Items made by the raku process including sea urchins, pears etc are intended for decorative purposes only and are not food safe. Please don't fill any raku items including either the urchins or wave bowls with water as raku is porous, and over time the water can leak through. Please note that the colour of raku pieces can change over time as the glaze reacts with light and oxygen in the air.

Black clay Most of my black clay items are intended for decorative purposes and are not necessarily food safe unless they have been glazed. If in doubt, please ask.

What sort of packaging do you use?

The boxes used for postal deliveries are recyclable/reusable and (according to the manufacturer) have been made of 30% recycled material. The packing peanuts (also known as void fill) are biodegradable. Any bubble wrap is plastic, but can be reused.

Where possible I re-use packaging and wrapping materials for both cost and environmental reasons so please don't be surprised or disappointed if your items don't arrive in a brand new box or brand new wrapping - the items inside will be new and unused.

Can I collect my items?

If you are local to Penrith, then it may be possible to arrange a collection or a local delivery - especially for swimmers who also enjoy Ullswater. Please make a note when placing your order and get in touch with me at info@ullswaterceramics.com. If a collection can be arranged, I will refund any postage costs once on delivery.

I'd hoped to buy something but it's out of stock - when will it be back in stock?

Thanks so much for your interest in my pottery, and I'm are sorry that what you would like is not currently available. Ceramics is a slow process, and everything is made in small batches. My current making cycle is around four to six weeks.

If there's something you are particularly interested in, do drop me a line at info@ullswaterceramics.com, or contact me via Instagram and I can let you know when I'm expecting to have items back in stock. I also take orders in advance - or I have have something but haven't put it on up online.

I live outside the UK, can I order?

I'm sorry but I am only able to take orders for UK based customers.

Where I can find out more about you/your work?

If you haven't already come via my main site (www.ullswaterceramics.com) please check it out for more details. I'm also active on Instagram @Ullswaterceramics.

I have a question that isn't answered here. Can you help?

If I've missed something that you'd like to know - drop me a line at info@ullswaterceramics.com and I'll get back to you.
